12 WRITING TIPS
- Make sure you’re comfortable and familiar with the laptop or computer you are writing on Keyboards are important. You don’t want to be awkward and back spacing too many times to correct spelling
- Focus on what you’re writing – avoid distractions, like your phone
- Make your surroundings conducive to being able to concentrate
- Don’t word count. Write until you have explored your thoughts and then count the words. Often you will be able to guess how many you’ve done. And if you’re finished, don’t overwrite
- Don’t be offended if someone wants to edit your copy
- Try to not start too many paragraphs with the same word
- Try to not start your stories or blogs with the same word
- Don’t write when you’re tired
- Don’t go near Google until you’re in a rhythm
- Experiment by writing as you would speak. It has to be you, not an alter ego
- If you don’t “feel it”, close the laptop or computer. Go for a walk.
- Don’t force it. It will save you time
